Resumo: Frankenstein, or the modern Prometheus, by Mary Shelley: space and characters in an ecocritical perspective is a research based on ecocriticism theory. The purpose of this study is to make a critical-reflexive reading of the novel, from the psychic, social and environmental ecologies. This study still verifies, through ecocriticism, how the nature present in the work also represents these conflicts and how they are configured in the face of the complexity of human life on Earth. The analysis take place through theoretical and historical studies, based on authors like Eric J. Hobsbawn, Ernest Callenbach, Félix Guattari, Fritjoff Capra, Greg Garrard, Leonardo Boff, among ohers who present themes related to literature, ecocriticism, technological advances and their social representations as inseparable elements of culture and daily practices and with the man’s relationship with the environment.
