Resumo: The objective of this study was to verify if there were associations between the tactical offensive principles and the methods of attack of the effective actions, that is, result in goals, of the teams and soccer participants of the professional Brazilian championship of the year 2017, comparing the ones of better performance (4 first in the classification) with those of worse performance (last 4). The research sample consisted of all attack actions that resulted in the goal of the 20 teams that competed for the championship, collected with the following variables: what and how many basic tactical principles were offensive in action, variability of their presence (how many types of principle occurred), attack method used. The games context was also verified as the final and local result of the matches. The Protocol of Analysis of Individual Tactical Performance (PADTI), validated by Denis (2017) was used to quantify the fundamental principles of actions and record of offensive methods. The games context was also verified as the final and local result of the matches. The Protocol of Analysis of Individual Tactical Performance (PADTI), validated by Denis (2017) was used to quantify the fundamental principles of actions and record of offensive methods. The descriptive analysis was used to record the data through the observational method, and the chi-square test was used to verify associations between the groups, and the correlation of pearson to p <0.05 were generated in the statistical program SPSS version 20.0. As results, the best ranking teams had a significant association in the total amount of tactical principles performed, and in the principles of mobility and space. The most prevalent presence of the positional attack method was found in the best performance teams, and the worst performance counterattack. The positional attack and the offensive coverage were the most prevalent in the competition. It is concluded that, although the defensive performance was not investigated, the teams with better campaigns presented greater offensive effectiveness in the occurrence of both the fundamental tactical principles (in quantity and variability) and in the use of longer and more elaborate attacks (positional attack method).
