Resumo: Distributed software development (DSD) is a practice increasingly adopted by companies around the world. The importance of DSD was accelerated due to factors such as the improvement of time-to-market through constant development in different time zones, the fast formation of virtual teams and the benefits of the advantages of the corporate market. However, along with the benefits, there are problems and challenges, and they are not few. Problems tend to increase if there is no well-defined development process together with efficient management. There are several categories that must be at a high level of maturity, some of which are very important, such as awareness and communication, since the teams will be geographically separated, that is, in different physical locations. These problems lead to a bigger problem that directly affects productivity. For teams that work in distributed development to be productive, it is important that they identify themselves and are easily perceived. The objective of this work is to seek efficiency in operation, maximizing productivity, through a proposal for a continuous awareness framework that aims to improve productivity in this type of environment, which are essential for the success of activities and projects. The research was applied in a real company, and the method adopted was action research. In this company there were several problems that culminated in the low productivity of its employees, and with that, when applying the research method that involved some interventions, the productivity improvement was achieved through the continuous awareness framework that involves three fundamental elements, that is, organizational structure, processes and tools and metrics, this being the main contribution of this research.
