This paper aims at analyzing the viability of rainwater reuse for utilization in toilets. Water as a natural resource is extremely important to maintain the quality of people’s
lives. The preservation and conservation of water resources provide improvements for future generations. Thus, the utilization of rainwater is a tool that contributes for the sustainability of the planet, through the reasonable use of water and water resources conservation techniques. This paper aimed at verifying potable water saving, with the implantation of a reuse system of rainwater for non-potable uses, in the health center unit of Jardim Panorama district in the city of Ubiratã, Paraná state. For the analysis, a survey was conducted to measure the average of daily treatment, an average survey of water bills, in order to know the consumption between the months of October 2011 and March 2012, and the installation of hydrometers to
obtain the amount of water which is consumed by each toilet. Data were collected on the consumption of both male and female toilets, verifying toilet consumption, with an estimate of daily, average and final consumption of 0,07 m³. As a result of this paper, it was found that the health center will have an average monthly saving of 41, 39% in drinking water consumption. Nevertheless, the investment for such initiatives must consider the long-term returns. |
