Resumo: With the emergence of an increasingly growing society in the pursuit of efficiency and productivity in its various sectors, the use of natural resources to meet this demand has led to sustainable development. Since the transportation sector is one of the human activities with the greatest environmental impact, the present work has addressed the feasibility of the use of residual oil from chicken for biodiesel production from the transesterification reaction with basic catalysis. The reaction conditions were: 30 min of reaction at room temperature, molar ratio of chicken oil: ethyl alcohol 1:15 and 5% of catalyst (w/w). The yield of the reaction was 3%, and the conversion of the chicken oil was confirmed by viscosity and thin layer chromatography.
