The soil heterogeneity brings with it uncertainties about its mechanical behavior when requested by the structure. Therefore, theoretical formulation and semi-empirical methods were elaborated to predict the load capacity of piles foundation and allow safe design. Depth variation, stratigraphy, as well as other soil’s and pile’s parameters make the methods laborious and impractical. The advancement of computer science allows the development of software which automatically performs the required calculations to estimate the load capacity for various situations. The development of software "Minerva – Fundações por estacas" to make geotechnical design of rigid pile caps on cylindrical piles according to the Schiel’s Method and the Feld’s Rule, provided with different types of piles and the semi-empirical methods Aoki-Velloso, Dècourt-Quaresma and Teixeira, transform that in a practical and didactic tool for construction students and professionals. |
