Resumo: The wooden structures joints made of glued deformed steel bars are becoming popular, especially in Europe. However, the Brazilian companies specialized in wooden structures do not use this kind of joint mainly due to lack of design criteria and standard test methods on Brazilian Association for Standardization (ABNT). This paper presents the experimental study of glued deformed steel bars in timber to contribute to the development of technology in Brazil. The relationship between maximum pull-out strength and embedment length was investigated and the experimental results were compared with the references. The experimental program was conducted on pull-out one-sided test set-up using sawn Brazilian wood (Garapeira), structural epoxy resin (Sikadur 32), deformed steel bars (CA – 50) with single nominal diameter (6,4 mm), single diameter hole (9,5 mm) and different embedment length (40, 70, 100, 130 and 160 mm). The results of the one hundred pull-out tests indicated that embedment length has significant influence on structural behavior of glued deformed steel bars in timber, affecting the maximum pull-out strength and the ductile performance. The threshold embedment length is in the range 13 < λ < 25 which agrees with the values found in the literature.
