Solid waste may be considered an issue if managed improperly. Not following technical standards and applicable laws for the management and disposal of urban solid waste (RSU) can yield health hazards, safety risks and environmental impacts often irreversible. Therefore, capable mechanisms are needed to qualify whether the final destination, the landfill waste, is suitable for the acceptable parameters. This research has the main goal to evaluate the quality index of the municipal landfill sites of Campo Mourão and Cianorte, in Parana state, according to the Waste Landfill Quality Index (IQR) from the Companhia Ambiental do Estado de São Paulo (CETESB). Results show that Campo Mourão’s landfill site had 7.1 index points and Cianorte’s had 9.2 points, being classified as under adequate conditions. |
