The shear-walls are structural elements of great importance for the stiffness to the structure of tall buildings and the design of these elements, which is very similar to that of the common column, has some peculiarities that can not be disregarded. The NBR 6118: 2003 was the first brasilian standard to focus more on the design of shear-walls by dividing them into bands for their design and considering the localized second-order effects, which are calculated according to the existing requirement in each part and not on the element as a whole. The NBR 6118: 2014 did not bring much advance in the subject, only a change in the coefficient αb, which in some cases contributes to the decrease of the armature rate, as it shows the present work. According to Eurocode 2, the shear-walls are dimensioned as a wall strip of one meter in length. In the shear-wall used as an example for this work, the lowest armature rate was obtained when it was designed according to NBR 6118: 2014. |
