Resumo: Concurrent Engineering is a systematic approach to the integrated and parallel development of a product design and the processes related to the materialization of the final item. In this way, the steps of the production process must be carried out in parallel rather than occurring sequentially, and modifications, when necessary, should happen as soon as possible, minimally interfering at the execution of the item in question. At this way, the purpose of this work was to investigate how the premises and concepts of Concurrent Engineering can be developed in the scope of civil construction. For this, bibliographic analyzes were made to search, understand and organize the knowledge about Concurrent Engineering. In addition, in a second moment, a questionnaire was applied to engineers and architects seeking to evaluate the level of understanding of these professionals about the accomplishment of a parallel project and its specificities. The results indicated that most of the professionals have knowledge about the subject in question, but few apply the precepts of this science in their works and projects.
