Since the Industrial Revolution of the XVIII century, man has left the countryside and its natural landscapes in search of better living conditions, which has repercussions in an urban mismatch, from the environmental, economic and social point of view. Redeeming contact with nature has been a challenge in large urban centers, as the space dispute is increasing. Thus, vertical gardens present themselves as an alternative to the question, since when applied well they can bring great benefits, ranging from the softening of the temperature to the visual comfort, translating into quality of life to the inhabitants of the cities. In this context, this work aimed to explain the importance of sustainable actions in the improvement of the urban environment, with a focus on vertical gardens and its ability to attenuate undesirable heat gains. It is hoped to demonstrate the potential of integrating the vegetation to the buildings, by means of an evaluation of the thermal comfort of block B of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), characterizing their needs, as well as the benefits of vegetation cover and, finally, to present a vertical garden proposal for the block. |
