The cities currently have a serious situation resulting from the growth of the tread in vehicle fleet due to: booming in the automotive sector, increased acquisitive power of the people, the greater need in the transport of consumer goods. Emission of pollutants in the atmosphere have worsened in the cities because of this increase of means of transport, causing significant impacts in air quality and human health. Beyond the air pollution, the growth of cities ends up reducing the number of green areascausing that those which still remain, end up sharing the same environment with intense movement avenues. This study aimed to monitor and analyze the concentrations of air pollutants emitted by vehicular sources in three strategic points in the surroundings of Igapó Lake, located in the center of the city of Londrina, Paraná during the period of October 09 to 25 in 2014. The measurements were performed using the portable gas meter XT Gas Max Alert II, it was found that the concentrations of the gases: hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O₂) and the fuel gases were in agreement with the relevant legislation. It was also performed the quantification of the number of vehicles that can serve as a basis for actions of traffic conditions improvement. Despite being recorded carbon monoxide levels above those permitted by CONAMA RESOLUTION 03/1990, the air quality in the sample points was satisfactory. It was also found that the number of vehicles and the category of the same, is not a factor that defines the concentration of pollutantsbut rather the state of preservation and maintenance of these vehicles. |
