The analyzes were conducted in July/2012, November/2012, March/2013 and June/2013 in batch system with sampling every 12 hours and hydraulic retention time of 48 hours. The performance tests between species and influence of temperature were done by analysis of variance, ANOVA factorial. The evaluation of the performance of the treatment was through the physical and chemical parameters (temperature, hydrogen potential, alkalinity, suspended solids, COD, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, nitrate and total phosphorus) and bacteriological (total coliforms and Escherichia coli) in the influent and effluent systems. The results of the factorial ANOVA indicated no significant difference in the performance of the species, but noted the interference of temperature on nutrient removal capacity in both types of systems. The best efficiency was observed in volatile suspended solids (83-94% e 80-97%), COD (38-70% e 39-74%) and total phosphorus (68-93% e 69-96%), to T. domingensis and P. parviflora, respectively, during low and high periods of temperatures, and total coliforms and E. coli above 99%. Este estudo avaliou o desempenho das espécies Typha domingensis Pers e Pontederia parviflora Alexander no tratamento de esgoto sanitário em escala piloto. Foram construídas seis unidades, sendo três de cada espécie. As análises foram realizadas nos meses de julho/2012, novembro/2012, março/2013 e junho/2013 em sistema de batelada com amostragens a cada 12 horas e tempo de detenção hidráulica de 48 horas. Os testes de desempenho entre as espécies e a influência da temperatura foram realizados por meio de análise de variância, ANOVA fatorial. A avaliação da performance do tratamento se deu através dos parâmetros físico-químicos (temperatura, potencial Hidrogeniônico, alcalinidade, sólidos suspensos, DQO, nitrogênio amoniacal, nitrito, nitrato e fósforo total) e bacteriológicos (coliformes totais e Escherichia coli) no afluente e efluentes dos sistemas. O resultado do teste ANOVA fatorial indicou não haver diferença significativa no desempenho das espécies, porém ressaltou a interferência da temperatura na capacidade de remoção de nutrientes nos dois tipos de sistemas.
