Resumo: The objective of this study was to analyze and monitor air quality at four different points in the city of Campo Mourao, Parana, verifying that the concentrations of gases in the air are at acceptable levels in accordance with existing laws, and to suggest improvements in traffic reducing emissions and contributing to quality of life. Sampling was done by monitoring the concentrations of pollutants emitted by mobile sources using a portable gas measurement model XT Gas Alert MAX II, manufactured by BW Technologies, and accounting numbers of vehicles which pass during the sampling period. It was noted that despite being recorded some measurements with concentrations higher than those established by CONAMA RESOLUTION 03/1990, air quality in the city was considered in accordance with the current legislation is satisfactory. The fleets of vehicles that have circulated during the measurements are not a determining factor in the emission of pollutants, but the condition of the vehicle was identified as one of the factors that affect air quality because the release of greenhouse gases were seen with more frequency by these vehicles. Measures such as the installation of traffic lights and also the change in traffic flow in the central region of the county would help even more to improve air quality pain.
