The goal of this work is to investigate activities evaluation strategies about Mathematical Modeling for the classroom. The main issue is to propose criteria and instruments in order to evaluate the action of students in modeling activity. This question is relevant, since modeling skills have been included in many curricula around the world. Consequently, these types of activities are being included more frequently in the classroom, in the mathematics lectures. The mathematical modeling can be understood as an educational alternative for teachers lead students to learn Mathematics. It provides that students present a more active role, so that enables the construction of their knowledge. However, it is necessary to exist an evaluation consistent with this practice. In this context, this research aims to "evaluate the activity", i.e. the "process", which consists of the student’s actions during the development of modeling activity. It consists in evaluating the practice, and not the effect of the activity. To do that, qualitative research is employed, as interpretive nature; application in a class of high school of a modeling activity; field diary and devolution of developed activities; analysis of these activities and results. For the development of the activity, the proposed problem refers to the behavior of the radioactive material concentration caesium-137 (CsCl) in the environment where it was released, over time. The main issue was to formulate parameters to evaluate the student's meaningful learning in a modeling activity in the classroom. It was investigated what the student was able to learn about math in the developed activity. Based on the results and analysis of the activities developed by the students, from the theoretical references studied, evaluation criteria were determined, which were used to evaluate the activity that has been developed in basic education. It is also presented a propose devaluation criteria, assuming that students can perform other actions during the development of a modeling activity. |
