Resumo: The main objective of this study is to understand the contribution of communication in organizational contexts for the empowerment of women and gender equality in the world of work. For this, we define what we understand about the world of work today, its aspects of centrality and its current configuration. We present theoretical and historical concepts about the achievements of women and their current situation, where we realize that gender inequality, even today, is a present reality, especially in the world of work. In this context, we explore organizational communication, through the relational paradigm of communication, which reveals itself as an alternative for the concepts of women's empowerment and gender equality, proposed by the UN, to shed light on labor relations. Finally, in order to enrich the discussion, a qualitative research applied to professionals working with communication in Shared Services Centers in Brazil - strategic tendencies of business organizations - was carried out in order to understand the workers' understanding of the contributions of communication in the organizational context for the empowerment of women in the world of work.
