Resumo: This Final Year Research Project is about the development of contemporary jewelry. The main objective is to develop a jewelry line so that the Studio Mayara Furlanetto finds it’s own language and expand it’s activities. To reach this goal, a research has been done about contemporary jewelry, productive processes for handmade jewelry, materials, creation and prototyping. The methodology used was the proposal by McGrath (2007), Baxter (1995) and Lobach (2001) and has followed tree steps: concept research, evaluating ideas and translating ideas. The first step is the one that includes concept research, references, inspiration and setting up the target market, the rivals and the similar products. The second step is about generating alternatives, which consist in drawing and creating models based on the chosen theme, evaluating and choosing the best ones. The third one is the decision making step, about colors, dimensions, weight, movement, usability, cost and construction), prototype construction and project documentation. It has been chosen to fabricate a seven pieces collection. The alternative generation has experimented some materials, such as resins, ceramics, wires and metals and it has been decided to work with paperclay (ceramic with paper) and metal. Each ceramic piece was glazed with color in relevance with the chosen theme: water. Besides, this project brings recommendations about future actions, like the production of new pieces based on the alternatives that has been generated, studies for material improvement, propositions about promotional actions (brand refinement and creation of promotional material) and suggestions on selling issues. The conclusion is that the ceramics can mass value to the pieces generating a language - an own identity - to the Studio, since the material provides unique results, because one ceramic piece will never be suchlike another one.
