In the sport, Samulski (2009) demonstrates the importance of studying aspects of leadership as it is a relevant item for the yield in sport. The majority of studies on leadership focuses on analyzing the perceptions of athletes about their coaches (LOPES et al, 2004; ROCHA AND CAVALLI, 2006; DIGNAMI, 2007; ARDUA and MÁRQUEZ, 2007; Polettini, 2009; ALBA et al, 2010; Brandão and CARCHAN, 2010; Lessa et al, 2013; CORREA, 2015) leaving many times aside the prospect of coach in relation to the subject. The general objective was to compare the perceptions of futsal coaches in different categories (sub9 and sub 15) in relation to leadership and motivation. The study was conducted with eight-side futsal coaches of the clubs that participated in a great tournament in the city of Curitiba in the modality of Futsal in the year 2017 the categories sub 9 (four trainers) and sub15 (four trainers). The study has two approaches, quantitative and qualitative analysis. In the quantitative approach was applied to relocation the questionnaire "Revised Leadership Scale for Sport " (RLSS), developed and validated by Zhang et al. (1997) after a review process of the "Leadership Scale for Sports" (LSS), developed by Chelladurai and Saleh (1980). In the Portuguese language, the validation of the "Scale of revised leadership for the Sport (ELRE)" was performed by Samulski, Lopes and Costa (2006), the data were analyzed descriptively (mean and standard deviation) for continuous data. The questionnaire was applied in selfperception of coach. To meet the requirements of the qualitative approach was applied to the instrument of the interview and the analysis was performed by means of content analysis, potential representatives were identified and coded. In the quantitative analysis, using the results of the questionnaires, we conclude that there are more differences than similarities between the coaches of the two categories in line with the initial hypothesis established. In the qualitative analysis, using the interviews, it was concluded that there are more similarities than differences between the perceptions of futsal coaches in different categories in relation to leadership and motivation, contrary to the initial hypothesis established. However, when analyzed only the dimensions related to leadership and motivation, it was found that there are more differences than similarities between the coaches of futsal in categories Sub9 and Sub15. A liderança é a capacidade de influenciar pessoas para o alcance das metas, sendo essa liderança atribuída por meio de um alto cargo na organização ou emergência informal dentro da estrutura (Robbins, 2007). No esporte, Samulski (2009) revela a importância de se estudar aspectos de liderança visto que é um item relevante para o rendimento no esporte. A maioria dos estudos em liderança concentra-se em analisar as percepções dos atletas acerca de seus treinadores (LOPES et al, 2004; ROCHA e CAVALLI, 2006; DIGNAMI, 2007; ARDUA e MÁRQUEZ, 2007; POLETTINI, 2009; ALBA et al, 2010; BRANDÃO e CARCHAN, 2010; LESSA et al, 2013; CORREA, 2015) deixando muitas vezes de lado a perspectiva do treinador em relação ao tema. O objetivo geral foi comparar as percepções dos treinadores de futsal de diferentes categorias (sub9 e sub 15) em relação a liderança e motivação. O estudo foi realizado com oito treinadores de futsal dos clubes que participaram de um grande torneio na cidade de Curitiba da modalidade de Futsal no ano de 2017 das categorias sub 9 (quatro treinadores) e sub15 (quatro treinadores). O estudo possuiu duas abordagens, quantitativa e qualitativa. Na abordagem quantitativa, foi aplicado aos treinadores o questionário “Revised Leadership Scale for Sport “ (RLSS), desenvolvido e validado por Zhang et al. (1997) após um processo de revisão da “Leadership Scale for Sports” (LSS), desenvolvida por Chelladurai e Saleh (1980). Na língua portuguesa, a validação da "Escala de Liderança Revisada para o Esporte (ELRE)" foi realizada por Samulski, Lopes e Costa (2006), os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva (média e desvio padrão) para dados contínuos. O questionário foi aplicado na versão auto percepção do treinador. Para satisfazer as exigências da abordagem qualitativa foi aplicado o instrumento da entrevista e a análise foi realizada através da análise de conteúdo, potenciais representações foram identificadas e codificadas. Na análise quantitativa, utilizando os resultados dos questionários, conclui-se que existem mais divergências do que semelhanças entre os treinadores das duas categorias corroborando com a hipótese inicial estabelecida. Na análise qualitativa, utilizando as entrevistas, conclui-se que existem mais semelhanças do que divergências entre as percepções dos treinadores de futsal de diferentes categorias em relação a liderança e motivação, contrariando a hipótese inicial estabelecida.
