Resumo: The following work aims to study what is the influence of street dance in motivating their practitioners in the city of Curitiba. Featuring the origins of the dance to the present. The type of study was descriptive research procedures were quantitative methodology, conducted through the Questionnaire on Regulatory Behavior in Exercise - 2/ Behavioral Regularion in Exercise Questionnaire - 2 (BREQ - 2) . Motivation for the Practice of Sports and Physical Exercises. The instrument indicates a continuum of self -determination in BREQ/BREQ-2. The sample was of dancers with at least 1 years experience working in the street dance, the survey was conducted in 5 dance schools of the city of Curitiba. The program used Excel 2012 the 57 patients 40 were females and 17 males, showed a mean age of 21.3 (SD = 5.3) years, in which the mean values of each dimension of the questionnaire BREQ - 2 was presented in graph form. For each question a Likert 5-point scale where values was presented: the lowest (0 = not true for me) , intermediate (2 = sometimes true for me) and higher (4 = often true for me) . The results show that most of the dancers practicing street dance due to intrinsic reasons.
