Resumo: |
Swimming is one of the most complete sports that provides benefits for both health and psychological well-being. It is characterized by cyclic movements in which the body moves as a whole. In swimming classes, the teacher must create a safe and motivating environment taking into account the individuality of each student aiming to promote among other things the well-being. One of the ways to evaluate people's quality of life is to evaluate the subjective well-being that is related to satisfaction with life and to the positive and negative aspects experienced. This study examined the effects of a swimming program on the perception of subjective well-being and life satisfaction in beginner adults in swimming. 50 people participated by invitation and willingness. Treatment consisted of 45-minute swimming classes with varying weekly frequency depending on the participant's choice. The follow-up period was three months. For the evaluation of subjective well-being, two self-reported scales were used: the PANAS-VRP Scale to measure the affective dimension (positive and negative affects) and the Life Satisfaction Scale to measure the cognitive dimension. The analysis of the results showed that there was a significant improvement in two items of the positive affects and in the general positive score, the same did not occur with the negative affects where there were no differences. The life satisfaction scale improved significantly in four of its five items beyond the overall score. The results suggest that the program proposed in this study influenced subjective well-being in a positive way. However, other factors that may influence this perception have not been controlled. |
