Resumo: Football in its primordium, was an essentially individual and disorder game, where the pass is the last resort. It was quickly modified by the necessity to organize and administer better spaces. With the emergence for new methodologies of training, the variation in the utilization of spaces in the field increased the relevance of the strategies and tactics involved, elevating the level of the sport until this present day, where it has become a research area for science. Due to the importance of tactical principles for the success of a team on the playing field, the present study, which is essentially quantitative with an observational descriptive character, aimed to analyze the offensive movements of the professional Brasilian National Football team, with the aid of an electronic spreadsheet (PADTI), quantified and described the methods and present fundamental principles relevant. The positional attacking was the method most used by the Brasilian National Team, however the most efficient method used was the fast attack. The principles didn't present relevance to the success of the offensive movement, demonstrating the necessity for a global vision for the modality, where the unpredictability, coupled with the large number of variables involved in a match, such as the technical, physical, cognitive, psychological and emotional parts that were disregarded in the present study, are of paramount importance for the success of a team on the field of play. New studies are suggested to serve as a subsidy for professionals from different football categories, to direct training and to improve situations, methods and principles, helping in the process of teaching and learning football, considering that the studies in this area is of certain scarcity and very recent in Brazil.
