This study evaluated the potential of rainwater harvesting in the Ecoville Campus of UTFPR, aiming the financial viability of the project. For this, it sets as goals the estimation of non-potable water demand in the unit , the budget of the system cost and finally , costs analysis and the deployment benefits. In order to avoid high treatment costs, less restrictive usage allocations were established. The methods suggested by NBR 15527/2007 were used to obtain the dimensions of the water reservoir. Two of them were also selected for verification of the results of the project. The research showed that the selected building already had a cistern for rainwater storage. However, it was not used for this purpose. Assessing the demand of the available rainwater, it was found that the confidence level in the system was above the minimum set by the provision according to the analysis of the existing cistern. Yet, the value obtained for the system's efficiency was briefly lower than other estimated volumes. Along these lines, it only became necessary, adjustments on the structure of the rainwater and drainage facilities, as well as, the addition of the necessary equipment for the proper functioning of the system. The estimated period for the financial return of the investment was less than 9 months. |
