Resumo: In view of the need to mitigate environmental impacts and reduce the use of natural resources through the exploitation of deposits aimed to road works foundations, the feasibility of using the original material available is of great importance. The mechanical qualities improvement on the original soil through additions of binders does not require the exchange of support material, which can thus mean a great reduction on the works execution budget. This alternative is justified by the fact that, in general, the transport of soils represents a great monetary burden for road projects. The study object of this work is a sedimentary soil from the region of Curitiba, belonging to the Guabirotuba formation. For the material, it will be tested the addition of cement at certain levels for the analysis of its mechanical resistance in order to compare with the same study performed on the soil with the addition of hydrated lime. The results obtained demonstrate a considerable improvement on the condition of the mixtures in comparison to the natural soil, highlighting however, the greater efficiency achieved by the soil-cement mixtures.
