The following essay strives to analyze the traffic lights influence on the total travel time of buses of the express line Centenário – Campo Comprido. Since the City of Curitiba has a system known as BRT, dedicated lane for buses, however, cannot freely make use of these facilities due to existing traffic lights on them. Thereby this essay analyzed the feasibility of introducing a system that can identify the approaching buses and as a result, release the way to them without unnecessary waste time. The results of the analysis showed that, for the studied stretch, it can be stated with 99% certainty that the replacement of conventional lights for some kind of system that gives right of way to buses, will decrease significantly the total travel time of buses. |
