The centralized wastewater treatment vision, vastly disseminated in Brazil, with huge stations, is one of the reasons for the low sanitation levels, especially related to the time consuming process of installing new units. The decentralized systems are viable and affordable options, eliminating the need of wastewater transmission grids. Aiming the benefits of its application, the savings to be generated, creating a scientific research location, and an example of good practice, this study aims to develop a preliminary plant and costs of a wastewater treatment plant for the campus Curitiba, sede Ecoville, of Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - UTFPR. Preliminary studies were done for locating the WTP, using Curitiba’s planialtimetric plant and the available area. The estimated amount of wastewater generation was calculated using the water consumption history and the population of the campus. Qualitative analyzes were made in the generated university’s wastewater. Static fine screens were used for the solids removal. Considering the wastewater volume variation generated through the day and night, this study also contains a flow equalization tank dimensioning. An UASB reactor was planned as a secondary treatment. For the wastewater disinfection, it was given the option of chlorination or ultraviolet radiation treatment. The estimated the cost of the hole system was based in the average costs of other WTPs, and also with previous quantitative surveys. After sized all units, was presented a preliminary plant of the wastewater treatment plant. This research showed that decentralized units are viable, considering implementation costs below R$ 110.000,00, and monthly operation costs under R$ 700,00, with no more than 100 m² needed, and allows the future reuse (except consumption) of the wastewater treated by the institution itself. |
