Resumo: Through the historical study of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), compared with the French Sign Language, the purpose of this paper is to investigate three dictionaries selected for the analysis of twenty signs. Thus, it will be used as theoretical and methodological assumptions on linguistic variation Tarallo (1986) and Lucchesi (2004). The literature review of linguistic studies on human languages contributed for the reflection of the same types of change processes that operate both in oral languages and sign languages, confirming its natural status. The discussion of the collected data took into account three main parameters considered by Stokoe (1960): point of articulation, movement and handshape, being the first parametric condition had less change over time in Libras.
