This paper has the objective to develop a literary analysis of the character Thorbjörg, a fortune teller in Saga de Eiríkr Vermelho, from Três Sagas Islandesas aiming to identify social functions and women power relations development throughout pre-christian societies. For the present research, there have been established historical basis from the Icelandic colonization period, oral tradition reflection, as well as an analysis on mysticism and female figure in pre-christian societies, emphasizing power relations in which women are socially involved. |
