Resumo: Based on conceptions of Freud’s Psychoanalysis, we examine the characters Harper Pitt and Prior Walter presented in the drama Angels in America, by the North-American playwright Tony Kushner, aiming to understand the shock stasis versus progress. We consider stasis as the stagnation in an object (formerly lost or abandoned) and the progress as the relentless search for this object, revealing an action that verily represents the movement of the human being him/herself.
