In this context three aspects of this play are analyzed, namely, the mythological universe, the presence of the symbolic aspect and the dream as an element of the narrative. In each case study, mythological elements with its symbol and the dream which compose the theatrical text will be analysed. In other words, it points out the aspects in which mythology, symbolism and the dream are connected to form the narrative richness of the novel. The purpose of this paper is to examine A Midsummer Night’s Dream in light of Campbell’s studies about mythology, the revelation of the symbols elaborated by Cirlot and Chevalier and the analytic psychology developed by Jung. The result of this study is to bring a panorama of the associations established between literature and other human areas of knowledge. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre os elementos propostos pelo dramaturgo William Shakespeare no texto Sonho de Uma Noite de Verão, além de informações sobre o contexto teatral no qual a peça foi produzida, o teatro elisabetano. Nesse panorama três aspectos da peça são analisados, a saber, o universo mítico, a presença do simbólico e do sonho enquanto elemento da narrativa. Verifica-se como, em cada caso estudado, os elementos da mitologia, o símbolo e o sonho compõem a linguagem teatral. Em outras palavras, como tais elementos se integram para construir a riqueza da narrativa. Essa pesquisa tem como base os estudos mitológicos elaborados por Joseph Campbell, bem como a análise dos símbolos propiciada por Cirlot e Chevalier e a psicologia analítica de Jung.
