Studies related to the field of intermediality are presented to explain the existing connections between a Graphic Novel and a traditional novel based on the concepts presented by Claus Clüver and Irina Rajewski. Studies related to the social factor in literature, such as the ones developed by Antonio Candido, Alfredo Bosi and Lucien Goldmann, are also presented to support the relevance of external factors that influenced the novels on our analysis. Relevant political and social concepts for the analysis such as totalitarianism, socialism and anarchy, are also presented for the better understanding of the aspects explored. Esse trabalho apresenta como foco as similaridades encontradas no aspecto político e social das obras V for Vendetta (Alan Moore) e 1984 (George Orwell), em conjunto com a situação política da Inglaterra durante o período de escrita das duas obras – pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial e governo de Margaret Thatcher -, para explicar a razão de autores de diferentes épocas enxergarem um futuro distópico semelhante para o país. Para fundamentar esse estudo, utilizamos estudos relacionados ao campo da intermidialidade em relação ao gênero Graphic Novel e suas referências ao romance tradicional conforme os conceitos intermidiáticos de Claüs Cluver e Irina Rajewski. Também apresentamos os estudos de Antônio Cândido, Alfredo Bosi e Lucien Goldmann relacionados ao fator social na literatura para embasar a relevância dos fatores externos que influenciaram as obras na análise realizada nesse trabalho.
