Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the representations of death in four short stories of the book Então você ser quer escritor?, by Miguel Sanches Neto (2011). Therefore, there is a survey on the images of death in different productions of the author and on how it is presented in the work in a matter, analyzing the reactions of the characters when confronting it by the loss of a loved one. The main studies that guide this research are those from Aries (1981 and 1982), about death and human behavior before it along the history of the West, the philosophy from Schopenhauer (1960 and 2000) and psychoanalytical notions about mourning and death from Freud (1996), Kübler-Ross (1987) and Raimbault (1979). During the development of this work, it was discovered that Miguel Sanches Neto uses death as an narrative axis, portraying it as an event either close to humans or far from them. Typically, he shows it as something grotesque and, at the same time, naturalized. The focus of his short stories, however, is the sense of loss generated from the death and its psychological consequences in the characters, who face two current possibilities: the belonging and the disconnection.
