Resumo: This paper presents the reflection about the representation of women in the illustrated magazine O Cruzeiro, in the period between 1928 to 1945 (the interwar and World War II). From the pages of the magazine and its relevance as a medium of national sphere, the work involves the relationship between the graphical aspects and the construction of femininity. Operating together, these elements have served as training devices of the opinion of the population. Embodiment and clothing as a means of regulation of femininity are the main issues considered in the construction of the "be feminine" in the images disseminated in the journal. Acting at a time when the country was modernized and state forces acted with greater intensity in the life of the population, O Cruzeiro affirmed values , rules and conducts while illustrating the contradictions that permeated the social expectations regarding female behavior in society, that still adapter the rapid pace of cosmopolitan cities.
