This research is directed to a branch of landscaping that has been in the spotlight: aquascaping. In the last decades, the work and dedication of many aquascapers has been pushing this sector, raising it to a new level. Since then, the practice of aquascaping has been increasing, both by common people and by designers with commercial purposes. However, difficulties in the maintenance of the aquarium end up compromising its biology, sometimes leading to its ruin, generating frustration and loss rather than the leisure provided by the aquarium hobby. That being so, the integration of aquascaping techniques – acquired and improved over the years – with new technologies of electronics, hardware and firmware, is the basis for guiding this study, whose purpose is to develop a prototype that integrates several technologies. The prototype aims to automate the monitoring and controlling of the main parameters that affect the quality of the aquarium water in order to make its maintenance and stability easier, creating a healthier environment for fishes and plants. This purpose is achieved by means of an automated system, versatile and adaptable, that unifies the information in a processing module with user interface, in a logical and simplified manner. |
