Resumo: This graduation assignment presents a theoretical approach on sustainability and ecodesign tools. The main objective is the production of a furniture prototype that has reused resources as raw material, with tires being the main study object. Contains a historical approach on tires, research about existing products and solutions for their reuse after useful life expiry, and also the causes for their incorrect discard in the environment. It emphasizes the role of manufacturers, public policies and the consumer in changing the present way of consumption, towards a more eco-efficient model. Ecodesign solutions are presented for a more environmental conscious approach, innovating in ecological products accepted by the current market, and by controlling their life cycle since the conception phase. It focuses studies in the product's discard phase, the present solutions surrounding the end of their useful life, mainly reuse and recycling. The assignment contains research on designers and artists that make use of recycled/reused materials in their works, and a field study on an environmentalist's workshop. It presents the prototype creation process through phases: briefing, brainstorm, market research e alternative solutions. The prototype's production phases, analysis on it's use and ecodesign acceptance by the current consumption market are presented, as the difficulties/successes encountered by working with reused material on it's production.
