Resumo: This project proposes the development and implementation of CNC mechanical axis control of the fourth and fifth on a three-axis CNC milling machine. From all the rotary axis, it has been used the fourth axis of the milling machine Tormach PCNC 1100 and the fifth axis was designed and developed by the team. Initially, it was made an experimental workbench composed of four axes, two linear and two rotary. With this arrangement the movements of a mill and several configurations of drives, interfaces and software were tested. The control computer operates under Linux enviroment, using Ubuntu version 10.04 operating system, in which is installed EMC2. The EMC2 is the CNC software to control machine tools. After mastery of experimental bench, the two rotary axes were added in milling Tormach PCNC 1100, so as to obtain a set of five motion axis. The Tormach PCNC 1100 milling machine then, has suffered some adjustments in its drive system in order to allow control implementation of new rotary axes. After these changes machining operations were performed in 5 axes validating the project.
