The work consists on studying and implementing a system that allows to a diesel genset working on four different speed levels. This genset is the only source of energy for a Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane (RTGs); this equipment is used to move containers in ports. According to the momentary required power, which changes with the load request variations, we must have an associated speed. After several tests it was found that using a few Retrofitting and adding components to the system, we could achieve this goal. This adaptation brought greater reliability to the system, in addition to lowering fuel consumption. |
