Resumo: Facing the growing concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) present in the atmosphere and looking forward to reduce those, initiatives are being developed and adopted. In this context, the GHG inventory is a resource that allows enterprises and institutions to identify the emission sources. The methodology used at Federal Technological University of Paraná – Campus Curitiba (UTFPR-PR) was based on the Brazilian Program GHG Protocol calculation tool. The tool is divided in three scopes: scope 1 measures direct sources; scope 2 evaluates the indirect sources related to power generation and consumption; scope 3 refers to other indirect emissions, such as solid waste. Through the tool, it was estimated the generated amounts of CO2, CH4 e N2O in 2014. The results indicated that the emissions from UTFPR-CT summed 2,641.1 tons of CO2 equivalent. Scope 1, which included the university’s official vehicles and the purchase of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), generated 188,8 tCO2e, scope 2 generated 436 tCO2e and scope 3, in which was considered the GHG generation from solid waste sent to landfill site, totalized 2.014,1 tCO2e. After the analysis of the results, alternatives are indicated to reduce the GHG emissions; it is presented procedures and improvements to help the development of future inventories, as well as suggestions for theses that could assist the development of innovation towards emission reduction.
