Many business segments have recently adopted the use of wireless communication technologies, even critical areas such as health care and oil exploration. However the power utilities still there is some limitation to their use, perhaps because of reliability that is required of the electric power system and may be compromised due to electromagnetic impulses contained in electric power substations. This work describes the study of ZigBee technology and the analysis of the practical results of its use in substation environment. The practical experiment aims to wireless communication using ZigBee technology, from a data acquisition unit (UAC) and a unit of communication and control (UCC), reporting the data to a Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition System (SCADA). A practical test like this is deserving of more comprehensive studies, not being covered in all details for this work of completion by the time and cost required. |
