Resumo: This project studies the comparison between the reception of digital TV as a function of the transmission signal with a transmitting antenna on the elliptical polarization and a transmitting antenna on the horizontal polarization. It evaluates the impact on the fixed reception at the viewer's home, mobile or portable receiver. For a television broadcaster as much easier is to tune and receive the digital signal as greater will be the advantage of this broadcaster in relation to its competition, because greater likely audience for their programs. We conducted research work in digital signal in Maringá, state of Paraná, in forty eight fixed points and about two thousand points in motion, comparing one transmitting antenna only with horizontal polarization and other antenna with elliptical polarization. For Maringá region, if measured in the field, the decision to use an antenna with elliptical polarization in reception brings better results in the reception compared to the horizontal polarization one, presenting a lev-el of received signal quality and signal transmission better in relation to transmission only in horizontal polarization. That is, through the elliptical polarization the received signal has a received level more intense, facilitating the capture and reception of the signal. Each region to be implanted the Digital TV, should have a discussion of what is the best alternative regarding the antenna polarization in function of the topography, land use, location of site transmission over the urban core and what is wants to reach, when the emphasis is the high definition service or the portable reception.
