Resumo: In the automotive industry, the complexity and high degree of technological development of its processes and products are added to the growing need for differentiation by low costs and quality. The application of a methodology for analyzing and solving problems in a product / service is important in identifying the root cause, fix the fault and implementing corrective and preventive actions to reduce costs and maintain quality. The use of quality tools and techniques such as brainstorming, cause and effect diagram , Pareto chart , FMEA Analysis (Failure Mode and Effects), QFD (Quality Function Deployment), among others, contributes to troubleshooting, reducing non-conformities within the production process and quality improvement . This study aims to analyze to verify the use of some methods and tools for troubleshooting and improving product quality in the companies of the automotive industry and region of Curitiba. Data collection was done through a questionnaire prepared and sent to the quality of the selected companies sector. The universe for the data collection was the top business leaders in Curitiba. This was done in terms of quantitative methods and tools which are used as and when they are used and what benefits they bring to the company. As a result, it was observed that the adoption of methods and quality tools helps maintain the objectives and goals related to quality outlined by the companies. The need to use the methods and tools of quality is recognized by the surveyed companies as a means for obtaining productivity success of the quality of its products and services at all levels of the organization.
