Resumo: Industry has come through significant changes in the last years. The increase of competitiveness, combined with growth of new technologies and qualified workforce has granted industry the transition to a new era centered in the information, defined as fourth revolution or industry 4.0. Brazil has a great potential and is able to harvest many benefits from this movement especially for small and medium sized companies. Among main obstacles are high investment and lack of information on financial return of these new technologies, skilled labor, old machinery update to current electronic communication protocols and information security. Despite these obstacles Brazilian industry needs to find the means to achieve such level of modernization. The construction of processes in the production chain focused on information allows product traceability, raw material stock and finished goods detailed control, customer satisfaction ratio monitoring, communication within the machines at shop floor area and execution of autonomous activities through artificial intelligence, enabling the overall process improvement. From that, this study proposes a tool development to collect, store and analyze data from a production line of a medium sized company. At the end it was possible to determine process efficiency, the quantity of material produced and not used and also the energy consumption giving out the cost per part produced, thus reducing significantly the amount of time to evaluate and define corrective actions upon the data generated by production line.
