The consumption of electric energy has been increasing considerably, and with it the constant search for energies coming from renewable sources. A renewable alternative energy that has been standing out in the current market is the wind power. This work aims to study the wind resource existing in Ilha do Mel through wind speed and wind direction reanalysis data, taken from the European Center for MediumRange Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Through these data, an estimate of the wind potential of the Island is done. Also, it’s done a study of the load characteristics that will be served by the proposed wind installation. This study aims to estimate wind turbines to meet the total or partial demand of the Island. Also, technical characteristics of Wind turbines are discussed, provided by catalogs of manufacturers and the feasibility of carrying out such installation. |
