Resumo: This work had the objective to present the fundamental concepts about data transmission technology via the mains for home automation, commonly known as Power Line Communication (PLC), and advances in the design of transmitters and receivers modules for power line communication. To deploy the communication was used an existing protocol X-10, which is open source thus enabling their manipulation. This protocol was implemented through a microcontroller to generate frequencies, which in turn through modules circuits are coupled, injected and received the power grid. The transmitter module sends an X-10 command module and the receiver received this command and trigger the desired device to be controlled and owned by grid. Are presented throughout the chapters the theoretical framework and the methodology steps of this project. At the end we were discussed the results obtained with the implementation of the prototype home automation addressing aspects of teaching and application of the developed system.
