OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impact of auriculotherapy on the quality of life (QOL) of children with chronic non-progressive childhood encephalopathy (CNPCE).METHODS: The present study is quantitative. It was held at the Municipal Educational Center for Specialized Care (MECSC) in the city of Campo Largo - PR. Eight children with CNPCE, classified at all levels of the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), aged 0 to 12 years, participated in the study. Evaluation record by the authors and the PedsQL 3.1 questionnaire, specific to CNPCE, was used. The children performed eight sessions of functional rehabilitation and, in the eight subsequent visits, auriculotherapy was associated. GraphPad Prism 5.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Initially the Shapiro-Wilk test was applied to verify the normality of the data, as the data assumed non-parametric distribution, the Wilcoxon test was used.RESULTS: The results were favorable to the technique, providing improvement in pain and bruising, fatigue and eating activities, as well as in specific issues of the disorder addressed, such as Constipation, Drowsiness and Irritability, evidencing the efficiency of auriculotherapy in the QOL of individuals with CNPCE.CONCLUSIONS: The auriculotherapy was efficient, having a positive impact on the quality of life of children diagnosed with CNPCE, but in only some of the dimensions a statistically significant improvement was obtained, being these pain and bruising, fatigue, alimentary activities, constipation, drowsiness and irritability.
