OBJECTIVE: To analyze the quality of life of individuals affected by the sequelae left by the Chikungunya fever.METHODS: An integrative review of the literature on Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Chikungunya, Quality of life and Arthritis. The following inclusión criteria were used to construct the documentary corpus: articles available online, in full, published in national and international journals, in English and Portuguese, in the period between 2009-2017. The exclusión criteria were: repeated articles that did not meet there search question. In view of this, the articles were eligible for eligibility and selected those who were in agreement with the criteria.RESULTS: The prevalence of articles reviewed in MEDLINE, published in the year 2012, with retrospective cohort studies as methodology was noted. Regarding the thematic approaches, the rheumatologic changes were the most contemplated among the publications when compared to the quality of life.CONCLUSIONS: Chikungunya can cause long-term repercussions, such as persistent arthralgia, being severely disabling in a significant proportion of patients, affecting quality of life and generating implications for public and individual health. |
