OBJECTIVE: To analyze the quality of life of individuals affected by the sequelae left by the Chikungunya fever.METHODS: An integrative review of the literature on Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Chikungunya, Quality of life and Arthritis. The following inclusión criteria were used to construct the documentary corpus: articles available online, in full, published in national and international journals, in English and Portuguese, in the period between 2009-2017. The exclusión criteria were: repeated articles that did not meet there search question. In view of this, the articles were eligible for eligibility and selected those who were in agreement with the criteria.RESULTS: The prevalence of articles reviewed in MEDLINE, published in the year 2012, with retrospective cohort studies as methodology was noted. Regarding the thematic approaches, the rheumatologic changes were the most contemplated among the publications when compared to the quality of life.CONCLUSIONS: Chikungunya can cause long-term repercussions, such as persistent arthralgia, being severely disabling in a significant proportion of patients, affecting quality of life and generating implications for public and individual health. OBJETIVO: Analisar o comprometimento da qualidade de vida de indivíduos mediante as sequelas deixadas pela febre Chikungunya.MÉTODOS: Revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) e Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), mediante a aplicação dos Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS): Chikungunya, Qualidade de vida e Artrite. Para construção do corpus documental foram utilizados os seguintes critérios de inclusão: artigos disponíveis online, na íntegra, publicados em periódicos nacionais e internacionais, na língua inglesa e portuguesa, no período temporal entre 2009-2017. Os critérios de exclusão estabelecidos foram: artigos repetidos e que não atendiam a questão da pesquisa. Diante disso foi realizada a elegibilidade dos artigos e foram selecionados aqueles que estavam em concordância com os critérios.RESULTADOS: Notou-se prevalência dos artigos revisados na MEDLINE, publicados no ano de 2012, com estudos de coorte retrospectivos como metodologia. Quanto às abordagens temáticas, as alterações reumatológicas foram as mais contempladas dentre as publicações quando comparadas à qualidade de vida.CONCLUSÕES: A Chikungunya pode causar repercussões de longo prazo, como artralgia persistente, sendo intensamente incapacitante em uma proporção significativa de pacientes, afetando a qualidade de vida e gerando implicações na saúde pública e individual.
