This project is in the context of sustainable development. The worldwide demand for alternative fuels has expanded quickly; therewith, there are environmental impacts connected. The aim of this research project is to determine the optimum mix between diesel and biodiesel in order to minimize six environmental problems (global warming, acidification, ozone depletion, eutrophication, photochemical ozone creation and non-renewable resources) caused during the production of diesel and during the agricultural phase, the extraction phase and the production phase of soy, palm and sunflower biodiesel. It was possible through the application of tools of Operations Research along with a multi-criteria analysis, weighting concepts and normalization concepts. The proposal of the results was to point the importance of controlling the means of fuels production for process efficiency of Brazilian energy generation and allow understanding how the implementation of the models in this study may contribute to reduce environmental impacts, suggesting ideas to decrease the environment problems. It was analyzed as an imminent result the level growth of environmental impact (efficiency measure used) that showed the need of a contingency plan. |
