This paper reports on the production of metallic nanoparticles by laser ablation synthesis in solutions based on water, mineral oil and industrial oil, aiming at its application in lubricating systems. We present literature data that indicates the vast utilization of laser ablation technique for nanoparticle production nowadays. The technique is here presented for nanofluid production, that is, mineral oil colloid suspensions containing nanoparticles for applications in lubricant systems, since there is evidence in literature that these fluids are capable of enhancing lubricants’ efficiency. Bismuth, Copper, Gold and Molybdenum samples were utilized for nanofluid production. The optical, rheological and tribological properties of these nanofluids were evaluated. Evidences have shown that nanoparticles have an effect on these fluids’ properties. |
