Resumo: Jabuticabeira is a plant native to Brazil, where it is present in a wide area, extending from the South to the enter-West of Brazil, this fruit has a good taste and antioxidants, and companies in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic segments, has been showing special interest in species. The objective of this study was to determine the level of ploidy six accessions of the jabuticabeira tree and the characterization of the fruits of these plants. Six accessions of Jabuticaba, Plinia truciflora and Plinia cauliflora were evaluated. The young leaves were analyzed with flow cytometry, freshly expanded young leaves were collected in the spring for analysis of flow cytometry, length, width and leaf area were also analyzed using a digital caliper (mm). For this, 50 mature leaves of each access were collected, characterized by complete expansion and located in the middle third of the branches. In Brazil, when the fruits reached the point of physiological maturation, characterized by the coloration of the bright and dark epidermis, were harvested for their physico chemical and biochemical characterization. From each access, 50 fruits were removed. The fruit weights, seed weight (g) were evaluated; (mm), seed length (cm), number of seeds, soluble solids content (° Brix), anthocyanin content and shell flavonoids (mg / g). were collected from each evaluated access. Tetraploid jaboticaba can beused for the development of triploid jabuticaba fruit as well as potential for commercial cultivation.
