Resumo: The present study has as general objective to analyze the comparative advantage of vegetable production of the organic system in relation to the conventional system in rural properties located in the southwest of Paraná. To conduct the study, a survey was conducted through interviews with some owners of vegetables, two of the conventional system (P1 and P2 conventional) and two of the organic system (P1 and P2 organic), both located in the southwest Of Paraná. In the interview, questionnaires were applied to the producers for the matrix of technical coefficients and estimates of production costs of crisp American lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. Crispa), and thus compared. The results were the Production Cost per foot, where organic P2 (R $ 1,51) stood out as the highest cost, followed by conventional P1 (R $ 0,88 reais), organic P1 (R $ 0 , 85) and conventional P2 (R $ 0.82). The main issues that accentuated the difference between the properties were the presence of protected environment, the cost of freight and machinery. For the formation of the profit per foot, organic P1 obtained the best performance (R $ 1.65 reais), followed by conventional P2 (R $ 1.18 reais), organic P2 (R $ 0.99 reais) and conventional P1 R $ 0.62 reais). All properties have gained cost of production and profit advantages, but more studies among other cultures are needed to state which system has, in fact, the comparative advantage.
